Cooking with a toddler wrapped around your leg

Before I was a mother, I had all these grand plans of how great of a mom I would be. My children would eat what I put on their plate, I would have home cooked dinners every night that would wow the crowd, and I would have plenty of time to cook said meals because I'm a stay at home mom (hold on while I turn off the oven timer while burping the baby...). And then I had children, and God laughed and laughed!
Stuff gets burned, cream curdles on the stove, rice turns into a gelatinous mess...some nights you just got to have ice cream for dinner. This is what happens when you have to nurse a new born and a toddler is wrapped around your leg because he wants to "help mama". I'm still figuring this all out, sometimes I have to put the toddler in his room so he can calm down and I can have a good cry in front of the new born who I've had in the swing for hours. It's hard, being a parent is hard, they don't tell you how hard it is, because you wouldn't believe it.
The hardest thing I'm having trouble with is letting go of expecting perfection. But no one's perfect, and that's o.k.
